- Madonna’s NFTs launched last month, but the assets could not fetch very high prices in auction
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) seem to be becoming one of the top trends of cryptoverse this year as well. In 2021, jaw-dropping prices fetched by NFTs of Beeple and CryptoPunks stunned many.
This year in May, Madonna launched her set of NFTs on trading platform SuperRare. Now, NFTs linked to popular American football player Josh Allen are set to drop on the DraftKings Marketplace. What is this offering all about, let’s explore.
Josh Allen NFT drop
Metabilia, an NFT minting service provider, has announced that Josh Allen-linked digital assets will be issued on June 9. Josh Allen NFTs will fall under Athlete Member NFTs of Metabilia. The tokens allow holders access to the autographed memorabilia and other accessories of the linked athlete. Josh Allen NFTs can let fans get hold of some rare items linked to Allen’s football journey.
It appears that Metabilia is using the services of DraftKings to enable secondary market transactions of NFTs. The latter is a marketplace to trade digital collectibles, with features including NFT airdrops. For the upcoming drop, Metabilia has said that those who hold the Members Only Event NFTs will receive an invitation for the event with Josh Allen in the coming days.

Which are the most expensive NFTs?
How the Josh Allen NFT will fare in a market that is already inundated with projects like CryptoPunks and BAYC is yet to be seen.
Beeple is one of the biggest names in this space, with the artist’s Everydays NFT having been sold for nearly US$69.3 million in an auction last year. Beeple’s CROSSROAD NFT went for a resale, with a purchase price of nearly US$6.6 million in 2021. Beeple’s HUMAN ONE sold at a Christie’s auction for nearly US$29 million.
CryptoPunks form another set of most expensive NFTs. CryptoPunk #5822 sold this year in February for over US$23 million, while CryptoPunk #7523 sold last year for nearly US$11.7 million.
In a separate event, the AS Rome Fan Token of Socios.com -- linked to the football club Roma -- is gaining heavily in both price and trading volume terms, as of writing.

NFTs are often criticised as overpriced assets with little utility. They are considered to be a part of the cryptoverse due to the underlying blockchain tech, which also powers cryptocurrencies like BTC. How Josh Allen NFTs perform after the drop on DraftKings might shape the sentiments for the remaining half of 2022.
