S&P ASX 20
Share Price & News
One can consider the S&P/ASX 20 (XTL) to be Australia’s narrowest stock market index. It was launched in 2000. The index was designed to measure actively traded and highly liquid securities that are among the 20 largest securities listed on the ASX. The Index constitutes the 20 largest stocks by market capitalisation, listed and trading on the exchange. Ideally, actively traded and highly liquid securities are part of this index. Given the low number of securities in the index, it offers little diversification relative to other indices. The constituents of the index are subject to change, depending on the quarterly rebalancing by the index operator (S&P). Often, the financial and material sector owns almost half of the S&P/ASX 20.
