CardieXâs ground-breaking technology for central blood pressure monitoring gets validated one more time in the clinical study of China. The study is seen timely as CardieX embarks on a crucial licensing, OEM, and product strategy focus in China throughout 2019.
The global health technology company, CardieX Limited (ASX:CDX) recently announced that the market-leading SphygmoCor® technology of its subsidiary AtCor Medical was utilized in the Chinese clinical study to assess prediction of cardiovascular events in a hypertension cohort. The study was published by the Clinical and Experimental Hypertension Journal and led by the prestigious Shanghai Jiatong School of Medicine in China in collaboration with the Department of Geriatrics at the Rujin Hospital North and the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Macquarie University.Â
Chinese FDA approved, CardieXâs SphygmoCor system has outlined the growing market need to assess the risk associated with the cardiovascular event through the analysis of central arterial pressure waveform, thereby facilitating better individualization of care for the patients. Moreover, the information provided through SphygmoCor assessments is said to be particularly beneficial in heart failure drug development.
The study was reportedly conducted on 675 hypertensive patients for an average follow-up period of 25 months. It utilized CardieXâs SphygmoCor technology to perform noninvasive measurements of central aortic BP, brachial BP, wave reflection, augmentation index, pressure amplification, and pulse wave velocity.
The study provided that cardiovascular risk is better characterized by central blood pressure as measured by SphygmoCor technology than traditional brachial pressure. Therefore, the study firmly established that measurement of central BP is clinically superior in the treatment of patients with hypertension.
CardieX CEO, Craig Cooper stated âThe study firmly establishes that measurement of central BP is clinically superior in the treatment of patients with hypertension. The study also highlights the growing need for the companyâs SphygmoCor system in the Chinese market as it moves forward to build on our existing distribution, sales, and licensing network in that country throughout 2019.â
In the concluding statement, the investigators said that central blood pressure monitoring improved prediction of cardiovascular compared to peripheral pressure during follow-up of approximately two years in patients 60 and older. Moreover, the result of this study has added to the success of other major studies of substantially longer duration including 10 years study on Taiwanese population.
AtCorâs SphygmoCor technology is commercially available to hospitals and healthcare facilities across China and is used in all 20 hospitals on the U.S. News Best Hospitals 2017-2018 Honor Roll, told the company. The technology is said to be in use by clinicians and researchers for the non-invasive assessment of central blood pressure for over two decades.
There can considerate traction be seen to the companyâs performance and its proprietary health care technologies as the stock (last traded at A$0.056 as on 15 February 2019) has moved up by attractive 89.65% over the past 12 months with as high as +68.57% change in one month.
