Highlights

  • Viking Mines has mobilised a reverse circulation drill rig for the maiden drilling campaign at the Linka Tungsten Project.
  • Field teams and the earthworks contractor are preparing drill pads at the project site ahead of drilling.
  • The programme follows metallurgical testwork that produced a 56.9% WO concentrate at 76.0% recovery and supports progress towards a maiden Mineral Resource estimate.

Viking Mines Limited (ASX:VKA) has commenced the next stage of exploration at its Linka Tungsten Project in Nevada, USA, with the mobilisation of a reverse circulation (RC) drill rig for the project's maiden drilling campaign. The programme marks the first drilling activity at Linka in more than four decades and is part of the company's strategy to advance the project towards its maiden Mineral Resource estimate.

Rig Mobilisation Underway Ahead of Drilling

The contracted RC drill rig has departed the contractor's yard and is en route to the Linka Tungsten Project, while field crews and earthworks contractors have already begun preparing drill pads. The rig is anticipated to reach site later this week.

The company expects drilling to commence shortly after the rig arrives on site, subject to weather and operating conditions. The first drill hole is scheduled to begin during the week commencing 27 July.

Programme Targets Historic Tungsten Mineralisation

The drilling campaign has been designed to evaluate scheelite-bearing skarn mineralisation located along the intrusive-limestone contact at the historic Linka workings, where the deposit was mined during the 1940s and 1950s.

The programme will investigate three priority target areas:

  • Shallow, near-mine high-grade mineralisation and down-dip extensions at Linka.
  • Interpreted south-west extensions beneath shallow cover.
  • Regional exploration targets along an approximately 7-kilometre intrusive contact, of which around 89% remains covered and untested.

The drilling follows recently completed metallurgical testwork that produced a 56.9% WOconcentrate at 76.0% recovery using conventional gravity separation and flotation methods.

Upcoming Work Programme

In the near term, the company plans to complete site drill pad, earthworks and access preparation before progressing with drilling across the Linka and Conquest workings.

The company's planned activities include completing logging drill core, dispatching samples for assay, and providing updates on drilling progress and analytical results as they become available.

VKA shares were trading at AUD 0.010 per share at the time of writing on 22 July 2026.
