Catalina Resources Limited (ASX:CTN) has identified several historical tungsten intersections during its ongoing review of exploration data at the Tallering Project in Western Australia's Murchison region. The assessment has recognised a previously overlooked tungsten-bearing polymetallic system at the Santy Well Prospect as part of the company's broader evaluation of the project's mineral potential. The review is being supported by recent fieldwork and additional sampling across the prospect.
Triggered by the update, CTN shares traded over 11% higher to AUD 0.050 at the time of writing on 21 July 2026.
Reflecting on the intersections, the companys Executive Director Ross Cotton commented: The identification of broad tungsten mineralisation, together with previously reported high-grade gold, silver and copper, significantly enhances the exploration potential of the Santy Well Prospect at our Tallering Project. Historical exploration was primarily focused on gold and base metals, leaving the tungsten potential largely overlooked despite occurring within the same polymetallic system.
As a recognised critical mineral, tungsten adds an exciting new dimension to the project and further strengthens our conviction that Santy Well is an emerging polymetallic exploration opportunity. We believe there is considerable scope to unlock additional value as we integrate historical datasets with our recent field reconnaissance and continue to evaluate the scale and significance of the system."
Historical Data Highlights Tungsten Intersections
The company's review of historical drilling, surface sampling and technical reports identified multiple tungsten-bearing intervals within the Santy Well Prospect. Historical reverse circulation drilling included 17m at 0.178% WO from 79m in hole SRC006, including 4m at 0.367% WO, with individual one-metre intervals grading 0.839% WO and 0.531% WO. The same drill hole also returned 6m at 0.200% WO from 6m, including 3m at 0.224% WO.
Additional historical drilling also recorded tungsten mineralisation. Hole SRC007 returned 3m at 0.154% WO from 99m to the end of hole, while hole SRC005 intersected 1m at 0.077% WO from 52m. Several other intervals reported tungsten values above 1,000ppm, indicating the presence of tungsten mineralisation across multiple drill holes.
Surface Sampling Supports Historical Records
Historical rock-chip sampling at Santy Well returned tungsten values of up to 60.1% W, equivalent to 75.8% WO. According to the historical dataset, the tungsten mineralisation occurs within the same polymetallic system that has previously reported gold, silver and copper mineralisation.
As part of the ongoing review, Catalina's geological team recently completed a reconnaissance field program. The visit included inspections of historical workings, geological mapping and the collection of 24 rock-chip samples for laboratory analysis. The assay results are expected during the current quarter and will be incorporated into the Company's technical assessment.
Technical Assessment Continues
Catalina is continuing to review historical drilling, geological mapping, surface geochemistry and the newly collected sampling results to improve its understanding of the geological setting and distribution of mineralisation at Santy Well.
The next phase of work includes completing the technical interpretation of historical exploration data, assessing the new rock-chip results and integrating all available datasets to identify priority areas for further investigation. The Company also plans to progress heritage consultations and approvals before considering future exploration activities, including additional mapping, geochemical sampling and drill testing, subject to the outcome of the review and statutory approvals.
