The recently released Forbes’ 2021 list of World Billionaires features total 328 women around the globe, that also includes a new member in the group - youngest self-made woman billionaire in US – Whitney Wolfe Herd.
From US to China, these women have collectively added US$57.07 billion to their wealth, fueled by recovering stock markets across the world. Let’s have a look at the top 10 richest women in the world –
- Françoise Bettencourt Meyers
The 67 years old French woman - Bettencourt Meyers, has inherited her fortune from her grandfather – Eugene Schuller – founder of cosmetic giant L’Oréal. Despite loss of 6% in 2020, the stock rose 38%, supported by recovering cosmetic demand. She has served on the board since 1997.

- Alice Walton
71 years old – Alice Walton, is the heiress to the Walmart founder – Sam Walton. She has gained around US$7.4 billion during 2020, fueled by increasing stock price of Walmart.

- Mackenzie Scott
50 years old Scott has secured third position in the top 10 list with a net worth of around US$53 billion. The former wife of Amazon founder – jeff Bezos – Mackenzie, became one of the biggest philanthropists during the pandemic, giving away US$5.8 billion to almost 500 nonprofit organizations across US.
- Julia Koch
With a net worth of around US$46.4 billion, the 58 years old Julia Koch along with her children have 42% ownership in Koch Industries. Their family business – Koch Industries became America’s largest private company last year, on revenue basis.
- Miriam Adelson
The 75 years old – Miriam Adelson controls 56% stake in Casino operator Las Vegas Sands which was formerly owned by her husband – Sheldon Adelson. The company announced to sell its Vegas properties for US$6.25 billion in March.

81 year old Jacqueline Mars along with her brother John, owns one-third of Mars Incorporated – US$40 billion candy, pet care and food company – known for M&M and Skittles. The company was founded in 1911 by Jacqueline and John, along with their grandfather.
- Yan Huiyan
The 39 year old Yan Huyian holds around 58% stake in China-based real estate developer – Country Garden Holdings. The young Chinese entrepreneur also chairs US listed education firm – Bright Scholar Education Holdings.
- Susanne Klatten
With a net worth of around US$27.7 billion, the 58 years old Susanne is German heiress. She has inherited large stakes in leading companies like – BMW and Altana, after her father’s departure in 1982.
- Gina Rinehart
The 67 years old– Gina Rinehart is one of the richest Australians, who chairs the mining and agriculture company – Hancock Prospecting Group. She has a current net worth of around US$23.6 billion and holds 77% stake in Hancock.
- Iris Fontbona
With a net worth of around US$23.3 billion, the 78 years old Iris Fontbona from Chile has rejoined the list of top 10 richest women after her net worth declined last year. She along with her kids control Chilean mining company – Antofagasta – that recorded sales revenue of US$5.1 billion in 2020.
