Earlier known as Amazon Game Studios, Amazon Games is a US video game company and a division of the online retailing company, Amazon. The company focuses on publishing video games developed within its development divisions.
According to the official website, Amazon Games “develops games that harness the power of AWS and Twitch to create bold and new game experiences.”
Some of the games launched by Amazon include Airport Mania: First Fight, Airport Mania 2: Wild Trips 2012, Air Patriots, Simplz: Zoo, Lucky's Escape, Living Classics, To-Fu Fury, Tales From Deep Space, Sev Zero, and Lost Within.’
However, not all games have been launched successfully by the company. For instance, Crucible was launched after a rocky start. Nova, Intensity, Breakaway and Lord of the Rings MMO were the other games that were cancelled due to different reasons.
Amazon launches new products
Meanwhile, during its 2021 fall Echo event on Tuesday, Amazon launched a few devices, including Amazon Glow, Echo Show 15 and Astro. Unlike Apple and Google, the company didn’t stream its launch event live and instead opted for the invite-only format.
These items are “Day 1 Edition” products. It implies the products would not be sold to everyone at first. Instead, Amazon will ask people to sign up and then invite them to order the products.

Amazon Glow
Amazon Glow is an interactive device which allows kids to interact with family members and other remote acquaintances over video calls.
Unlike Facebook’s line of Poral devices, Amazon Glow uses technology to create an interactive, projected space in front of the device to offer a surface for virtual activities. The activities such as games, art, and puzzles give a sense of an in-person experience.
The stand-up device with a built-in projector comes with content sourced from Disney, Mattel, Nickelodeon and Sesame Workshop. The device has been priced at US$249.99.
Echo Show 15
It is the largest smart display that has been launched by the company so far. The product has been priced at US$249.99 and will be available in the market later this year.
The product appears like a smart picture frame that can be wall mounted. The company has also rolled out a new user interface (UI) with widgets to customise the display.
The display is powered by the next-gen AZ2 processor, which brings support for visual ID. It will allow Echo Show 15 to know that you are using the camera.
Astro
Amazon also launched a smart robot on Tuesday. The robot has been named Astro and is available via the Day One program at US$999.99. The robot moves on three wheels. It can also rotate.
The robot also possesses a camera that rises on a 42-inch arm that can guard your home when you are away. It can also display TV shows on its 10-inch touchscreen.
Bottom Line
The efficiency and technical soundness of the products would only be known once these are easily available to people as the year passes by. Only then, any comparison can be drawn with products launched by both Apple and Google.
