The Spanish infrastructure company - Acciona along with Australia-based Cimic Group’s (ASX:CIM) arm CPB Contractors have formed a joint venture with the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) to complete 360 km inland railways project.
Acciona and the Cimic team will also work together to build stretch of Australia’s 1,700 km Inland Railway. The Inland Rail project is Australia’s largest infrastructure scheme that will connect Melbourne and Brisbane, bypassing the busy Sydney Network.

The team will develop and plan a connecting line between Narrabri and Narromine, in the northern New South Wales. The project also includes earthworks, new track laying, drainage, bridges, and viaducts along with logistics and materials management.
Cimic Group’s chief executive – Juan Santamaria, said that the Inland Rail is very important for the growing population of Australia. The scheme will provide a fast freight link between the regional business and markets.
According to the CPB Contractors’ managing director – Jason Spears, CPB will ensure maximum opportunities for the local suppliers creating more jobs for them by using CPB’s extensive regional experience.
CPB is delivering major rail projects across Australia and will work closely with the ARTC to ensure timely delivery of these works, he said.
