Christmas bells can be heard on the online shopping platforms as a record number of presents have been brought online this year. Australian Post has stated that it has delivered over 1.45 million parcels in Queensland within a week, and 500,000 packages were delivered on Monday alone.
The National Retail Association (NRA) forecast indicated that Australians are likely to make a purchase worth AU$8.2 billion this Christmas, and a 51% increase in online sales is estimated.

Dominique Lamb, chief executive officer of NRA, stated that the overall value of Christmas might have a much higher value. It has been predicted that approximate spending will stand at AU$60.8 billion from 15 November till Christmas.
Significant sales would be observed in the last few days as NRA predicts spending of AU$1.6 billion in the last three days, which is 5% higher than last year.
Online or in-store shopping
The Australian Retail Association chief executive stated that fear of the new COVID-19 variant would not keep the shoppers away from the stores, and retail stores are experiencing high footfall. Moreover, supply chain issues and staff shortages are unlikely to affect the demand.
