Cryptocurrency is a volatile space where investors can potentially lose big money in a matter of minutes. But, conversely, the price of crypto can take off in a short amount of time.

Here are the top three performers in the past 24 hours. These cryptos are all within the top 100 in terms of market capitalisation.

Quant (QNT) +47.34%

Quant is one of the rare cryptos that weren’t affected by this year’s mass corrections that saw some digital currencies lose more than half their value.

Quant was launched in 2018 and its platform allows developers to create apps capable of running on more than one blockchain simultaneously. In addition, the platform aims further to push the development of  decentralised finance (DeFi).

Its native token is the QNT (ranked #41 according to CoinMarketCap), which has increased more than 3,200 per cent since January 1, 2021. In the past 24 hours, QNT has increased 47.34 per cent.

Fantom (FTM) +25.88%

Fantom was founded in early 2018 by South Korea-based Ahn Byung Ik, who’s founded multiple successful startups and holds a PhD in Computer Science.

Fantom is a consensus-as-a-service (CaaS) platform for the next generation of distributed ledgers.

Fantom also aspires to make advanced technologies more accessible and seamlessly integrated.

The Fantom ecosystem is fuelled by the FTM token and is priced at US$1.86 as of September 6, 2021. After hitting a then high of US$0.91 on May 8, 2021, FTM dropped to as low as US$0.16 on July 21, 2021 and has since made a strong recovery.

FTM is ranked #49 according to CoinMarketCap and has risen 25.88 per cent in the past 24 hours.

Filecoin  (FIL) +22.84%

Filecoin was founded by Juan Benet and is a decentralised storage system. Benet – a Stanford graduate and computer scientist - had previously created the Interplanetary File System.

Benet’s Filecoin project aims to store data in a decentralised manner, unlike the major cloud services accompanied by issues on centralisation.

Filecoin addresses those issues by protecting the integrity of a data’s location, this making it simple to retrieve as well as difficult to censor.

Filecoin, which is ranked #18 according to CoinMarketCap, is priced at US$118.21 and has increased 22.84 per cent in the past 24 hours.
