Meanwhile, shares of Piedmont closed trading at AU$0.88 per share, down 5.38% on ASX today. This is inline with the ASX 200 Materials index, which was 0.49% down at 15,349.40 points today (23 September).

Despite the positive news, Piedmont shares closed in the red today. This was mainly because of the broad ASX market, which closed 1.87% lower at 6,574.70 points today. Fears of a harsh reaction on Wall Street to a significant rate hike put pressure on the local market the whole session. The Federal Reserve is anticipated to raise its benchmark rate by at least 0.75 percentage points tonight.

On a sectoral front, all 11 sectors bled in red today; however, the materials sector was the less impacted sector.

Sanders will be in charge of all corporate and executive communications, brand reputation, crisis and issues management, employee communications, community relations, public relations, and social media initiatives for Piedmont in her capacity as the vice president of corporate communications.

In her three decades of career, she has spent time at top global and regional communications agencies and gained significant experience in the mining and manufacturing sectors. She assists Fortune 500 companies in creating their brand identities and mentors some of the world's most prestigious organisations in achieving their goals.
