Highlights
- RC drilling at Kurundi intersected gold mineralisation near surface, with hole TTRC188 returning 4m at 1.43g/t Au.
- Soil sampling at Kuiper revealed highly encouraging geochemical anomalies linked to ironstones and potential IOCG mineralisation.
- Follow-up drilling at Kuiper is scheduled to begin this week, with further target analysis ongoing.
- Ionic leach soil sampling will assist with drill planning and target prioritisation.
- Additional targets under evaluation include Rover East, Pioneer, EL31623, and Barkly magnetic/VTEM prospects.
King River Resources Ltd (ASX:KRR) has released an update on its 2025 exploration program targeting key gold and iron oxide copper gold (IOCG) prospects in the Northern Territory. Recent drilling and soil sampling have delivered encouraging results, with drilling at the Kuiper project set to commence this month.
Recent Gold Intercepts Extend Potential at Kurundi
The company reported promising results from its April 2025 reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Kurundi Main prospect. The program targeted extensions to the two high-grade gold zones and explored a new structure discovered late last year, where underground workings were unexpectedly intersected.
Notably, hole TTRC188 intersected 4m at 1.43g/t Au, including 2m at 2.79g/t Au from just 9m depth. This gold mineralisation on the newly discovered structure is very encouraging with mineralisation remaining untested along strike and at depth. The surrounded area features historic alluvial gold scrapings, suggesting further potential for mineralisation discovery.

At Kurundi Main, five new holes were drilled beneath previously intersected broad zones of gold mineralisation. The new holes intersected similar structures and veining, but did not yield higher grades.
However, Hole TTRC184 showed improved gold grades along a down-plunge trend to the north, suggesting further exploration potential.
IOCG Potential at Kuiper
The company also announced encouraging geochemical results from ionic leach soil sampling at Kuiper, focusing on two coincident gravity and magnetic anomalies discovered in 2023
Key mineralisation elements - gold (Au), copper (Cu), bismuth (Bi), silver (Ag), and arsenic (As), showed notable anomalies across the target areas. Notably, some anomalies at Kuiper West reflected interpreted folded 'hinge' zones.
Of particular interest is the Bismuth anomaly at Kuiper West that closely aligns with the main part of the gravity target.
Geochemical mapping combining ironstones and magnetite related elements showed trends associated with geophysical interpreted ironstone target positions at both Kuiper East and West.
These findings suggest that the gravity and magnetic anomalies in the area may be linked to ironstones potentially host IOCG-style mineralisation. The results indicate the presence of key pathfinder elements of mineralisation and iron-related geochemical signatures. Follow-up drilling at Kuiper is scheduled to begin this week.
Plans Ahead
KRR anticipates identifying additional drill targets as it continues to analyse geophysical data and assay results from 2024. To assist in prioritising targets and planning hole positions, the company is employing ionic leach soil sampling, which has already been completed at Kuiper 1 and 2.
Other priority targets currently under evaluation include Rover East (covering BIF Hill East, Anomaly 5, and Explorer 42), Pioneer (Areas 1 and 2), the EL31623 magnetic anomaly, and the Barkly magnetic/VTEM targets.
