Highlights
- King River has completed a 13-hole RC program at Kurundi Main, assays pending for high-grade gold zones.
- Acquisition of tenement EL32116 has boosted the company’s Kurundi footprint with new high-grade gold and multi-metal targets.
- Kuiper 1 and 2 have been identified as priority IOCG drill targets following gravity and magnetic anomalies from 2023 surveys.
- 2024 assays confirm gold intersections across Kurundi Main, Millers, and Mick prospects, refining future drill plans.
- The company eyes 2025 drilling at Rover East, Pioneer, and multiple magnetic and VTEM targets across Tennant Creek.
King River Resources Ltd (ASX:KRR) has been advancing an active exploration pipeline for 2025, building on steady progress across its Northern Territory projects. The company recently completed a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Kurundi Main prospect, where it continues to pursue high-grade gold extensions.
Kurundi Drilling and Tenement Expansion
Completed in April 2025, the Kurundi drilling campaign saw 13 RC holes drilled over 940 metres, targeting three key zones. Drilling intersected the anticipated structures and veining, with assay results currently pending.
In a strategic move to expand its footprint at Kurundi, KRR has acquired tenement EL32116 from Woodleigh Nominees Pty Ltd. This newly secured ground surrounds the existing Kurundi tenements and includes highly prospective targets, adding momentum to the company’s gold exploration strategy.
Focus Shifts to Kuiper IOCG Targets
King River is now preparing to drill priority IOCG (Iron Oxide Copper-Gold) targets at Kuiper 1 and Kuiper 2. These targets, characterised by strong coincident magnetic and gravity anomalies, lie within interpreted Warramunga rock sequences beneath shallow cover and were identified during the company’s 2023 geophysical surveys.
Preparations for RC drilling are already underway at these sites, supported by ionic leach soil sampling to refine drill hole locations.
2023 Geophysical survey update
The 2023 campaign included Dipole-Dipole Induced Polarisation (DDIP), Gradient Array Induced Polarisation (GAIP), gravity, and detailed magnetic surveys.
At Kuiper, coincident gravity and magnetic anomalies, interpreted to reflect IOCG-style mineralisation in Warramunga Formation rocks beneath shallow cover, have strengthened confidence in the targets. High-resolution drone magnetic data has also refined structural interpretations, setting the stage for 2025 drilling.
Additional Targets Under Review
Further targets under review for potential drilling in 2025 include Rover East prospects (BIF Hill East, Anomaly 5, and Explorer 42), Pioneer areas, and several magnetic and VTEM anomalies across KRR’s extensive tenement holdings.
With assays pending from Kurundi and geophysical interpretations advancing, King River looks forward to a productive year of exploration and value creation.
