Meet the Management Driving Invictus Energy's Cabora Bassa Project

An upstream E&P company Invictus Energy (ASX: IVZ) is focused on oil and gas in Sub Saharan Africa. 2019 has seen IVZ making significant progress in the Cabora Bassa Project (Special Grant 4571) in Zimbabwe at one of the largest under-explored interior rift basins in Africa.

IVZ has achieved several technical, commercial and strategic objectives that were set by the Board since acquisition of the project in June 2018.

In this article, we will provide a brief overview of IVZ’s strengthened Board - an integral catalyst in driving the progress of the Cabora Bassa Project:

Dr Stuart Lake (Non-Executive Chairman)

With more than 34 years of global experience in the petroleum industry, Dr Lake has operated assets in 20 countries worldwide. To IVZ’s advantage, this list is inclusive of over 10 African countries. The most recent addition to the Company’s Board (appointed on 31 July 2019), Dr Lake is a proven oil finder with phenomenal track record of 272 discoveries from 300 wells drilled with a 90% success rate.

· President and CEO for Castle Petroleum, in Louisiana and Texas

· Former CEO of AGM Petroleum

· Former CEO of African Petroleum Corporation Ltd

· Vice President of Exploration in the Hess Corporation

· Former directorships- Minexco Petroleum and Castle Petroleum (held in the last 3 years)

Currently, he is a Non-Executive Director of Tamboran Resources Pty Ltd and remains a Senior Advisor to Aker Energy.

Mr Scott Macmillan (Managing Director)

A Reservoir Engineer, Mr Macmillan is the founder of Invictus Energy Resources Pty Ltd. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and brings in extensive business experience in Zimbabwe. He was appointed as IVZ’s MD on 21 June 2018.

Area of Expertise

He has more than 12 years of experience in an array of fields-

· Exploration

· Field development planning

· Reservoir simulation

· Commercial valuations

· Reserves and resources assessment

· Business development

Mr Barnaby Egerton-Warburton (Non-Executive Director)

With more than 20 years of experience in trading, investment banking and international investment, Mr Egerton-Warburton has held positions with global investment banks in Hong Kong, New York and Sydney. He was appointed on IVZ’s board on 29 July 2016.

Career Roles

· Held positions in JP Morgan, Banque Nationale de Paris and Prudential Securities

· Former directorships also include- Global Geoscience (ASX: GSC)

· Currently, he is the Managing Director of Eneabba Gas Limited (ASX: ENB)

· He is serving as Non-Executive Director of iSignthis Limited (ASX: ISX)

· He is also a Non-Executive Chairman of Hawkstone Mining Limited (ASX: HWK)

Mr Gabriel Chiappini (Non-Executive Director, Company Secretary)

Active in the capital markets for 17 years, Mr Chiappini is a Chartered Accountant and has more than 20 years of experience as a finance and governance professional. He was appointed at IVZ on 6 August 2015.

Career Roles

· He is an experienced ASX director and has been involved with a number ASX IPO’s and transactions in the last 12 years, besides providing investment and divestment guidance to companies.

· He has held directorships in Fastbrick Robotics Ltd (ASX: FBR), Global Geoscience Ltd (ASX: GSC) and Scotgold Resources Ltd (ASX: SGZ) in the last 3 years.

· Currently, he is a Non-Executive Director of Black Rock Mining (ASX: BKT).

· He is also a Non-Executive Director of Eneabba Gas Ltd (ASX: ENB).

Mr Eric de Mori (Non-Executive Director)

With more than 15 years’ experience in ASX small capital investment and corporate finance, Mr Mori has held several director and major shareholder positions with ASX listed technology and resource companies.

Area of Expertise

· He specialises in natural resources, biotechnology and technology.

· He has a broad skill set across ASX listed company corporate finance.

He is the head of natural resources for institutional stockbroker Ashanti Capital and a Non-Executive Director of Adriatic Metals plc (ASX: ADT). He has held a Former directorship at Connected IO Ltd (ASX: CIO).

Mr Brent Barber (Country Manager)

An exploration geologist, Mr Barber has more than 40 years of applied experience and is based in Harare, focussing on the acquisition, assessment and design and management of IVZ’s exploration prospects. Currently, he is the Technical Director of IVZ.

Career Roles

· He is serving as Managing Director of Geological Organisation Logistics and Design.

· He has been involved in the evaluation and mining of mining ventures and mineral prospects across South America, Africa and SE Asia.

· He headed the hydrocarbon exploration in Zambia and Zimbabwe when employed by Mobil Exploration (which provided the initial seismic, gravity, aeromagnetic and geochemical data of the Mzarabani Prospect).

2020 will be incredibly important for IVZ and its shareholders with the progress of the Cabora Bassa Project. On 30 December 2019, the stock traded as $0.029.
