A recent update says there is going to be a weeklong  lockdown in Victoria, and this has raised concerns over what the people who travelled there from New Zealand are to do for the duration. With the Trans-Tasman bubble declared between the two countries a lot of people have crossed over from both nations some having met their friends and families after an entire year.

The COVID-19 minister Chris Hipkins  has urged people to follow the rules and stay put where they are till the end of the travel ban which is going to continue till 4 June 2021. He says it is understandably a tough time, especially if one is living in paid accommodation, one may have to extend their intended days of stay, but this is one of the harsh realities of travelling in the times of COVID-19 and something people need to be prepared for.

Before the travel bubble had opened the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has warned  people to always be on flyer beware mode while travelling in these uncertain times. This means they need to have prepared their own contingencies in case of any sort of emergency situations. On this Thursday she said this is the approach one needs to swear by at the minute. To all the Kiwis in Australia she said the need of the hour is to remain patient and follow the rules, confident that people who were travelling would have planned their respective contingencies ahead of travel.

In New Zealand, people who had travelled from Melbourne recently were contacted to ask if they were witnessing any symptoms of COVID-19. Around 10000 people had travelled from Melbourne, who have been asked to stay alert. What is more, there were further restrictions added for people who have travelled from the 20 to 25th of May, stating they need to get isolated and tested asap.

Ashley Bloomfield the Director General is of the view that the risk is still comparatively low, but the restrictions ae being put in place just as a measure of precaution.

New Zealand is one of the first countries to have been  able to fight the pandemic and will like to keep their guard high to ensure that it stays this way. Australia too has seen fewer cases than most part of the world and this is the reason the Trans-Tasman Bubble was agreed upon in the first place.
