The South Australian (SA) government and global customer relationship management (CRM) platform Salesforce have signed a deal to work on SA's goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
This is the first of its kind of global collaboration for Salesforce Net Zero Cloud, an initiative of Salesforce.
In a statement on 9 February 2022, Premier Steven Marshall said, "For SA, the collaboration is twofold. It's yet another multinational enterprise that has chosen to call South Australia home, further strengthening our state's position as a global leader in sustainability."
Salesforce's technology team will be based at Lot Fourteen, corporate campus in Adelaide city centre, Australia with other high-tech companies.

How will the deal help companies in SA?
Net Zero Cloud uses worldwide emission factors to calculate greenhouse gas emissions, allowing organisations to get precise, actionable information about their carbon footprint.
As per the agreement, Salesforce Net Zero Cloud will be piloted in conjunction with artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities from the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) and Green Industries SA (GISA) to provide companies with the sophisticated tools and data sources they need to reduce carbon emissions and take climate action.
South Australia's green economy has the potential to create thousands of jobs, assisting businesses and communities around the world in their transition to a carbon-free future.

As SA’ has a ‘Climate Change Action Plan 2021-25’ committing to net 100% renewable energy by 2030 and net zero by 2050, Salesforce looks committed to Adelaide as they are eager to be a core part of this ambition and will assist build hi-tech sustainability jobs for the future, said Marshall.
