The Queen of the United Kingdom and 15 other Commonwealth realms, Queen Elizabeth II, will celebrate her official birthday on Saturday, 12 June.
The main event of the Queen’s official birthday celebration is the ‘Trooping the Colour parade.’
The procession, which usually comprises at least 1,400 soldiers, 400 musicians and 200 horses, exhibits military precision, fanfare, and horsemanship to mark the Queen's official birthday.
The parade moves from the Buckingham Palace and down The Mall to Horse Guard's Parade with members of the royal family in carriages and on horsebacks.
The proceedings come to an end with an RAF fly-past watched by the Queen along with other members of the royal family from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

The Queen’s Birthday Honours for 2021 List
On 7 June, the honours for New Zealand were announced, with four damehoods and four knighthoods among 170 honourees.
New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern congratulated all the awardees and highlighted their decades of services in numerous fields.
Below is the list of The New Zealand Order of Merit.
Dames Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (DNZM)
- Professor Carolyn Waugh Burns, CBE for the services in the field of ecological research.
- Ms Judith Anne Kilpatrick, CNZM, for her services in nursing education.
- Mrs Hinewehi Mohi, MNZM, for her services to Māori, music, and television.
- Ms Ruia Mereana Morrison, MBE, for her services to tennis.
Knights Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (KNZM)
- Michael Grenfell Daniell, for services related to business, healthcare and governance.
- Distinguished Professor William Alexander Denny, ONZM, for medical research services.
- Wayne Thomas Shelford, MBE, for contribution to rugby and the community.
- Grahame Charles Sydney, ONZM, for services rendered in the field of art.
Some of the recipients of the Companions of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) include:
- Dr Evelyn Imelda Coxon, for contribution to Pacific and tertiary education.
- Mr David Charles Cull, of Dunedin. For services to local government.
- Dr Robert Simon Hearn Rowley, of Auckland. For services to paediatric and neonatal care.
- Dr Maxwell Gilbert Shepherd, JP, of Wanaka. For services to biotechnology and business.
Some of the recipients of the Officers of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) include:
- Mrs Margaret Mary Baker, for services rendered to Special Olympics.
- Ms Carol Ann Beaumont, for contribution to the union movement and women's rights.
- Ms Esther Rata Jessop, QSM, for services to Māori and to New Zealand-United Kingdom relations.
- Ms Gwendoline Tepania-Palmer, for services rendered to Māori and health.
Honorary Officers of the New Zealand Order of Merit
- Dr Wolfgang Scholz, for contribution to engineering and metals-based industry.
Some of the recipients for the Members of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) are:
- Sergeant Gurpreet Singh Arora, for contribution to the New Zealand Police and ethnic communities.
- Ms Danielle Rachelle Bergin, JP, for services rendered to the community, particularly the homeless.
- Mr Siale Katoa Latu Pasa Faitotonu, JP, for contribution to Pacific education.
- Mr Posenai Samoa Mavaega, for contribution to Pacific performing arts.
- Ms Tanya Soliali'i Mavaega (Tanya Muagututi’a), for contribution to Pacific performing arts.
