Hollywood Star Mark Wahlberg’s food chain Wahlburgers to enter the Kiwi Market

The family burger chain owned by Hollywood superstar Mark Wahlberg, is all set to venture into the New Zealand Market. Working with United Cinemas, the food chain is planning individual restaurants as well as cinema outlets throughout the country.

Taking Wahlburgers to Australia/NZ

Sam Mustaca, United Cinemas CEO expressed that they are thrilled at this collaboration. He said that after having followed this concept since several year and with the Hollywood connection being so strong, the Wahlburgers chain being brought into the United Cinemas fold was the perfect thing to do.

There has been a deal worth NZ$53.5m struck between Wahlberg and United Cinemas, to open to bring at least 20 Wahlburgers outlets in Australia and New Zealand in the span of 5 years.

It was further explained that the first of these restaurants shall be opened in CBD, Sydney, Australia. Besides this, 20 outlets are planned in different locations in the United Cinemas in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney as well as New Zealand. The location details for New Zealand are yet to be made public.

Mustaca said they are hoping the concept to be a success and believes that people would appreciate the great food, amazing drinks, and the fun ambience.

From the Horse’s mouth

The Lone Survivor star, Wahlberg said he was excited about the opening of his food chain in Australia. This is a family-owned business that Mark partners with his brothers Donnie as well the chef Paul Wahlberg.

He revealed how the whole idea conceptualised with his brother Paul, who has spent his entire life in the food profession, and since the past 10 years, has made it a point that people leave with a signature taste memory, no matter which Wahlberg restaurant they go to in the world.

He said they are thrilled to be expanding this brand further into Australia and are looking forward to a great partnership with United Cinemas and the Mustaca family.

The concept and the vibe of the restaurant is very relaxed and family-like, he said.

From frothy shakes to freshly ground, juicy beef burgers, sandwiches, loaded tots to a host of salads, they have a diverse menu.

This famous food chain was founded in the year 2011 in the state of Massachusetts, USA. In the US alone, Wahlburgers has 49 outlets. Besides this, they have a few outlets in Canada, as well as one in Germany, at the US Airforce Base.

There was an Emmy Nominated television reality show created on the concept of this business and it ran for 10 seasons before its finale in the year 2019.
