In its battle with ongoing COVID-19, Hong Kong has made a new move by banning inbound flights from eight countries. Flights from Australia, Britain, US, Canada, India, and three others will be banned from 8 January 2022.
Hong Kong’s zero COVID-19 strategy-
- On the verge of entering a fifth wave of COVID-19 infections, Hong Kong has declared a two-week ban on incoming flights from Australia, Britain, US, Canada, France, India, Pakistan, and Philippines.
- The flight ban begins from 8 January 2022 and will go on till 21 January 2022.
- The Hong Kong government is also going to ban indoor dining and close swimming pools, sports centers, museums, bars, and clubs including other locations for two weeks.

- To curb the coronavirus variants, Hong Kong has restricted operations of cruises and ships, allowing only vaccinated passengers who have tested negative for infection.
- The news is the latest trouble faced by airline operators like Qantas (ASX:QAN) and others in Australia.

Though the COVID-19 restrictions will help Honk Kong curb infections, it has emerged as a worrying development for the airline operators in Australia and other eight countries. For now, moving to Hong Kong for work or other purposes has become an issue for Aussies.
