The government business enterprise providing postal services – Australia Post has announced the plans to expand its recruitment drive in a bid to almost 5,000 workers.

The mail company requires new employees to manage an online shopping surge along with an expected wave of parcels anticipated for Christmas. Australia Post is calling for more people to help deliver for the Aussies ahead of Christmas.
According to the company’s internal report, online shopping has grown by almost 32% over FY2020-FY2021. The online shopping has risen sharply due to the COVID-19 lockdowns in all states and territories.
Australia Post is currently having 1,600 additional permanent workers across the nation and need to fill some 3,300 Christmas casual roles. The enterprise has continued to strengthen its delivering and processing capacity to meet its online shopping spree.
With vacancies across every state of the country, Australia Post is looking out for more people to join its team for various roles like mail processing, van and truck drivers, forklift operators, EDV posties and customer service roles.
Australia Post mentioned that it is currently delivering two million parcels every day across the country, with Aussies sending and receiving parcels in volumes.
Prior in the last week, the company’s acting chief executive - Roney Boys, said that the parcel volumes were already at Christmas like levels due to the lockdown.
Also, the company’s Executive General Manager People and Culture - Sue Davies encouraged the job hunters to reach out and join Australia Post at an exciting time.
Australia Post is on the lookout for 5,000 people to join its team to help deliver and process record volumes across the country, where every day feels like Christmas at Australia Post, now.
Ms Davies also said that the recruitment drive was a part of the company’s ongoing focus of delivering for Aussies keeping both the company employees and communities in the safe zone.
After Australia Post employed 4,000 new staff in late August, this recruitment drive is the second drive occurring in less than a month.
Earlier this month, the mail service temporarily paused the parcel pick-ups for three days from the online retailers due to the lock down restrictions of NSW ACT and Victoria.
Last year, the enterprise set aside AU$190 million to cover its voluntary redundancy payments over three years as it tussled over an expected AU$500 million full year loss.
