Theta (THETA) is primarily a blockchain-based network built to stream videos. The network uses decentralised networks wherein the users can share the bandwidth and videos on a peer-to-peer basis.

Founded by Mitch Liu and Jieyi Long in 2018, Theta’s protocol aims to pioneer content services. As a Centralised platform faces issues related to poor infrastructure and higher costs, it often makes it become a burden for the users. Besides, the content creators often end up generating lesser revenues and increasing entry barriers. But with THETA, the users benefit from getting cheaper content than other competing centralised platforms while reducing the entry barriers.

On 11 February, the THETA crypto price saw a significant surge of over 10% and a volume gain of over 500%.

Why is the THETA token rallying?

The THETA token on Friday was in the spotlight mainly due to the recent news of Replay, the blockchain-based video tracking & payments network emerging from the stealth mode due to backing by the Theta Network. This would mean that through Replay’s solutions, the users of the video ecosystem stand a chance to be fairly rewarded for their contributions.

The consumers of the RPLAY, a TNT-20 token built on the Theta blockchain, will now stand a chance to be rewarded for subscribing & watching content. By utilising the Theta Video API as the underlying infrastructure for video delivery, the RPLAY users can also earn while they watch the content.

THETA Price and circulation

THETA token is ranked 38 and was trading at US$4.20 with a 24-hour trading volume of US$1,446,947,632 on CoinMarketCap. At the time of writing, THETA coin was up by 13.54% in the last 24 hours. THETA crypto has a live market cap of US$4,142,428,407, and there are 1,000,000,000 THETA coins in circulation.

THETA token has been enjoying a good run of late, and in the past two weeks, it has seen a rally of 49% in the past week itself. The THETA investors would be hoping this purple patch gets extended. The upcoming days could well define how it would go in the first quarter.

Besides, the Replay-Theta partnership well gives content creators a unique way of posting content online and standing a chance to earn revenue from it. How long the rally remains to be seen.
