November was marked by the rapid growth of crypto tokens related to virtual reality platforms.

Following Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg’s announcement of his company’s Metaverse, platforms like Decentraland (MANA), Gala (GALA) and The Sandbox (SAND) saw massive gains as the public’s interest in VR was piqued throughout the month.

For the uninitiated, the metaverse is a digital world combining elements of augmented and virtual reality, where users can interact and create art, build upon virtual land and participate in gaming.

The Sandbox, whose Metaverse is run by its own native currency, SAND, saw the token jump from US$1.55 to US$6.79 in November, an increase of about 350 percent.

Competing Metaverse, Decentralised, is a virtual world where users can participate in a decentralised open market where the native currency, MANA, is used to pay for items within the virtual world.

MANA rose from US$2.81 to US$4.67 during the month, a gain of 66 percent.
