Highlights:

  • The Canucks finished a four-game trip by losing 4-2 to Nashville Predators.
  • Vancouver Canucks is owned by Canucks Sports & Entertainment, a privately held company.
  • Ice Hockey is probably the most popular sport in Canada and plays a significant role in the country's economy.

Ice hockey is a popular sport, and teams like Vancouver Canucks often stay in the news for multiple reasons. This week, the team made headlines after ending a successful road trip. However, it lost a match.

The Canucks finished off a four-game trip by losing 4-2 to Nashville Predators. It seems that the Vancouver Canucks fell short of energy as they played two games in 24 hours. Also, it was their fourth game in six nights and the 13th road game out of their last 16 games.

According to reports, the team went back to its home overnight and had a 2-1-1 record on the trip.

After the game, Vancouver Canucks' coach Bruce Boudreau reportedly said that you never feel good after losing a game; however, the team is 2-1-1, and many would take it as a victory.

Often fans and sports enthusiasts try to invest in their favourite teams. In football, fans now can buy fan tokens (a team's cryptocurrency) and participate in some of the team's decisions.

Alternatively, some teams have also gone public, and their stocks trade in the equities market. On that note, we are exploring if there's a way to invest in Vancouver Canucks.

Can you invest in Vancouver Canucks?

Unfortunately, there is no way to invest in the ice-hockey team. Vancouver Canucks is owned by Canucks Sports & Entertainment, a privately held company.

There is no way to buy stocks of private companies as retail investors and interested buyers will have to wait for Canucks Sports & Entertainment.

At the moment, it seems highly unlikely that the owner of Vancouver Canucks would go public, as there's no official communication from the company. Also, it is not often that a sports team or its parent company goes public in Canada.

Bottom line

Ice hockey is probably the most popular sport in Canada, and probably due to this, it often gets the attention of equities market investors and enthusiasts.

According to a 2014-15 Bank of Nova Scotia report, C$ 2.6 billion moves between communities in Canada every year due to the game of hockey, and it plays a vital role in the country's economy.
