  • Strategic push toward global supply diversification.

Evion Group (ASX:EVG) has taken a significant leap in its global expansion strategy by securing its first order from the United States for expandable graphite. The agreement involves the supply of 80 metric tonnes to a US-based supply chain player, generating approximately A$400,000 in revenue through Evion’s 50:50 joint venture, Panthera Graphite Technologies, situated in India.

Strategic Entry into the US Market

This maiden US order is more than a commercial milestone—it marks a strategic breakthrough. As industries such as aerospace, electric vehicles (EVs), energy storage, and defense technology increasingly seek alternatives to Chinese-sourced critical minerals, Evion is positioning itself as a key supplier in the evolving global supply chain.

Panthera’s Pune-based facility, operating within a Special Economic Zone, successfully dispatched its first graphite shipment in March 2025. With this US order, the joint venture now begins active supply to one of the world’s largest and most tech-driven economies.

Rising Demand for Diversified Graphite Supply

The global graphite market is witnessing a pivot toward diversified sourcing strategies, particularly from Western economies aiming to reduce dependency on China. The new US shipment serves as a testament to Evion's potential to meet this demand, aligning with the broader geopolitical and industrial shifts in critical minerals procurement.

Evion’s move is also timely, considering that the graphite sector is gaining traction among investors focused on the electrification of transport and energy systems. These sectors are integral to the ASX200 stocks ecosystem.

Panthera Graphite’s Operational Momentum

Established as a joint venture with India’s Metachem Manufacturing Co, Panthera Graphite is quickly proving itself a credible, scalable source of expandable graphite. The facility’s location near key transport infrastructure gives it logistical advantages that can support rapid global delivery. With production underway since late 2024, the JV is scaling up to meet anticipated growth.

Broader Global Vision

This development is part of Evion’s wider strategy that includes its flagship Maniry Graphite Project in Madagascar. Maniry is forecasted to produce 60,000 tonnes of concentrate annually over a 21-year life, with a pre-tax NPV of US$263 million. Additionally, the company is eyeing a downstream battery anode materials project in Germany, designed to process fine flake graphite at a proposed 30,000-tonne capacity.

As global supply chains recalibrate and industries prioritize secure, quality sources for critical minerals, Evion’s diversified footprint across India, Madagascar, and Europe enhances its strategic positioning in the graphite ecosystem.
