Brightstar Resources (ASX:BTR) has announced a maiden ore reserve estimate of 24,000 ounces across its Second Fortune and Fish underground gold mines in Western Australia. This development marks a significant step forward for the company’s broader production strategy and resource growth ambitions, particularly as it positions for further progress in the S&P/ASX 200 index space S&P/ASX 200.
Underground Resource Breakdown
The reserve includes 6,000 ounces from 52,000 tonnes at 3.36 grams per tonne (g/t) at the Second Fortune mine and 18,000 ounces from 175,000 tonnes at 3.23g/t at the Fish mine. These figures form part of a broader ore purchase agreement (OPA) with Genesis Minerals, supporting Brightstar’s targeted production for FY26.
The company emphasized that these estimates reflect only a portion of the potential across its portfolio, with significant exploration upside still available at both mine sites.
First Ore at Fish Imminent
Brightstar has confirmed that Fish is set to deliver its first ore within the coming week. With capital expenditure already fully deployed, the mine is expected to generate revenue starting in the September quarter. The quick progression to revenue generation adds momentum to Brightstar’s strategy to maintain multiple production hubs.
Drilling Plans and Growth Outlook
Managing Director Alex Rovira pointed to consistent mineralisation performance at Second Fortune, which has delivered reliable output for over four years. The ore body demonstrates continuity at depth with wide-spaced drilling results supporting further confidence in its longevity.
Plans are in motion to initiate additional infill drilling, along with surface and underground diamond drilling programs across both sites. This ongoing investment in resource definition aims to extend mine life and strengthen future production profiles.
Integration with Broader Strategy
The company’s underground operations are expected to integrate seamlessly with its open-pit plans at the Menzies and Laverton projects. A definitive feasibility study (DFS) for these open-pit assets is scheduled for release next week. The DFS is anticipated to further clarify Brightstar’s long-term strategy for expanding its gold production footprint.
As Brightstar advances its multi-site operations and accelerates exploration, the recent reserve announcement and near-term production from Fish offer a solid foundation for scaling up within the Australian gold sector—potentially reinforcing its place in the broader ASX200 landscape.
