
Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.36%, while the S&P 500 index gained 0.15%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Honeywell International Inc (NASDAQ:HON), which rose 2.36% or 4.77 points to trade at 207.23 at the close. Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) added 2.19% or 4.05 points to end at 188.62 and Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) was up 1.65% or 0.77 points to 47.42 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dow Inc (NYSE:DOW), which lost 1.64% or 0.92 points to trade at 55.15 in late trade. JPMorgan Chase&Co (NYSE:JPM) declined 1.32% or 2.66 points to end at 199.16 and 3M Company (NYSE:MMM) shed 1.15% or 1.15 points to 98.61.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Carnival Corporation (NYSE:CCL) which rose 5.81% to 16.94, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NYSE:NCLH) which was up 3.96% to settle at 17.87 and T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) which gained 2.79% to close at 177.91.
The worst performers were Bath&Body Works Inc. (NYSE:BBWI) which was down 12.82% to 45.17 in late trade, VF Corporation (NYSE:VFC) which lost 5.03% to settle at 13.12 and Stanley Black&Decker Inc (NYSE:SWK) which was down 4.56% to 83.02 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were MicroAlgo Inc (NASDAQ:MLGO) which rose 669.87% to 12.01, Sobr Safe Inc (NASDAQ:SOBR) which was up 74.57% to settle at 0.46 and Vast Renewables Ltd (NASDAQ:VSTE) which gained 66.91% to close at 4.49.
The worst performers were JIA DA CORP (NASDAQ:JDZG) which was down 85.97% to 1.75 in late trade, ENDRA Life Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:NDRA) which lost 60.83% to settle at 0.09 and Avalon Globocare Corp (NASDAQ:ALBT) which was down 30.60% to 0.85 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1839 to 1023 and 41 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2299 fell and 1062 advanced, while 133 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 0.38% to 13.16.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.96% or 22.80 to $2,346.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.41% or 1.05 to hit $73.17 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.23% or 0.96 to trade at $77.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 1.09, while USD/JPY fell 0.80% to 154.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 104.10.
