
Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Household Goods&Home Construction, General Industrial and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which rose 2.26% or 23.50 points to trade at 1,062.50 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 2.21% or 12.60 points to end at 583.20 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 2.00% or 6.30 points to 322.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which lost 1.64% or 1.90 points to trade at 114.15 in late trade. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) declined 1.24% or 20.50 points to end at 1,630.50 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 1.17% or 1.90 points to 161.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 892 to 728 and 497 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.41% or 8.15 to $1,973.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.26% or 0.21 to hit $81.37 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $84.95 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.70% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 103.02.
