Highlights

  • Metallurgical testwork at the Remorse Iron Deposit returned iron concentrate grades of up to 70% Fe.
  • Majority of Davis Tube Recovery (DTR) results exceeded 68% Fe with low impurity levels.
  • Test results support advancing the deposit toward potential
  • Infill and extensional drilling are being considered to further define the Remorse Deposit.

Western Australia-based Tempest Minerals Ltd (ASX:TEM) has announced further excellent metallurgical results from its Remorse Iron discovery, part of the company’s 100%-owned Yalgoo Project.

The final eight Davis Tube Recovery (DTR) test results from the initial metallurgical testwork program have delivered exceptional outcomes, with iron concentrate grades reaching up to 70% Fe at P80 25μm grind size, accompanied by low impurity levels. The results reinforce the potential of the Remorse deposit as an exceptional iron ore development prospect, according to the company update.

Most DTR recovery figures exceeded 68% Fe, with one sample surpassing the 70% mark, confirming the veracity of the deposit and supporting further study and potential development.

Metallurgical Testwork Campaign

To support multiple metallurgical analyses, including DTR, approximately 5 tonnes of mineralisation samples were collected and sent to Independent Metallurgical Operations Pty Ltd (IMO). IMO designed the testwork program, generating nine composite samples from six drillholes.

Metallurgical testing was carried out at SGS Metallurgy’s laboratory in Welshpool, WA. Each composite sample, weighing approximately 50 kg each, stage crushed to minus 3.35 mm and homogenisation and split thrice into 1kg representative head samples. These head samples were tested using the XRF Extended Iron Ore Suite analysis for each composite, with additional head samples subjected to multiple grind size determinations.

A total of 49 DTR tests were conducted across the composite samples, with the results confirming high iron recoveries and minimal contaminants.

About the Remorse Discovery and the Yalgoo Project

Discovered in 2024, the Remorse Deposit is located on the eastern side of the extensive Yalgoo Project, which spans more than 1,000 km² in Western Australia. The Yalgoo Project neighbours prominent ASX-listed players, including Fenix Resources, 29 Metals, Spartan Resources, and Capricorn Metals.

In 2024 drilling program comprised 21 holes and a 4,005 m reverse circulation drilling targeting a volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS)-style base metal target. Drilling intercepted thick, high-grade magnetite zones with iron grades of up to 39% Fe.

Following the discovery, TEM progressed the project, delivered an exploration target, an inaugural inferred resource, and entered into a memorandum of understanding with GreenSteel and Iron Pty Ltd to explore downstream processing synergies.

Next Steps

With metallurgical testwork validating the quality of the Remorse iron ore, Tempest plans to advance a series of forward-looking initiatives.
