STO, AMC, REH: How are these ASX 200 stocks performing

  • Santos drove huge investors’ attention to the ASX today as it successfully completed selling 12.5% interest in its Barossa Project to JERA. 
  • AMC also closed in green territory as the material sector shares ended with bullish tone. 

The S&P/ASX 200 index (ASX:XJO) ended the week on a positive note, with shares closing in the green. XJO closed 1.062% higher at 7435 on the ASX today (29 April). The share price of XJO has gained over 5% in the past 12 months. On the other hand, XJO’s year-to-date share price has fallen over 2% on the ASX today. 

Here, we have picked up three ASX 200 giants across several sectors- Santos, Amcor and Reece and have carefully analysed their performance on the ASX today. 

Santos Limited (ASX:STO) 

The shares of Santos Limited (ASX:STO) closed 1.265% higher at AU$8.00 per share on the ASX today (29 April). Approximately 11.3 million shares of the company were traded during the entire trading session. 

The share price of Santos has gained over 14% on the ASX over the past 12 months. On the other hand, Santos’ year-to-date share price also gained over 21% on the ASX today (29 April). The S&P/ASX 200 Energy sector (ASX:XEJ) closed 1.098% higher at 10124 on the ASX today. 

The ASX-listed energy giant, Santos, announced that it had completed selling the 12.5% of interest in its Barossa Project to JERA after receiving all regulatory approvals. The company secured cash proceeds worth AU$327 million after the completion of the sale. This could be the primary reason behind the share price push of Santos and heavy trading volume on the ASX today.

Amcor Plc (ASX:AMC)

The shares of Amcor Plc (ASX:AMC) closed 0.356% higher at AU$16.9 per share on the ASX today (29 April). Approximately 3.2 million shares of Amcor were traded during the entire trading session on the ASX today. 

The share price of Amcor has gained over 11% on the ASX over the past 12 months. On the other hand, Amcor’s year-to-date share price also gained approximately by 2% on the ASX today (29 April). 

The S&P/ASX 200 Materials sector (ASX:XMJ) closed 0.432% higher at 17915.1 on the ASX today. 

Amcor is an ASX-listed packaging material developer. The company is known for developing several rigid and flexible packaging for different types of food, beverages, pharmaceutical items, medical devices, personal care items, etc. The company has a market capitalisation of AU$25.30 billion. Amcor’s headquarter is situated in Victoria, and the company operates in 43 countries apart from Australia. 

Reece Limited (ASX:REH) 

The share of Reece Limited (ASX:REH) closed 3.06% higher at AU$17.51 per share on the ASX today (29 April). Approximately 567,000 shares of Reece were traded during the entire trading session on the ASX today. 

The share price of Reece has fallen approximately by 14% on the ASX over the past 12 months. On the other hand, Reece’s year-to-date share price also fell over 37% on the ASX today (29 April). 

The S&P/ASX 200 Industrials sector (ASX:XNJ) closed 1.026% higher at 6610.2 on the ASX today.  

Reece Limited is an Australian based company falling under the industrial sector. The company was established in 1920 and currently holds a market capitalisation of AU$10.97 billion. Reece primarily deals with the distribution of plumbing, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration waterworks and heating products. Reece has about 800 branches globally that serve the customers of Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.
