Highlights
- New uranium auger drill targets defined at the Saraya permit through eight infill termite mound sampling (TMS) grids, taking the total auger drilling targets to 11.
- A total of 18,727 termite mound infill samples have been collected.
- Further auger drill results and a mineral resource update are awaited.
Haranga Resources Limited (ASX: HAR; FRA: 65E0) has provided an exciting update on its recent exploration activities at its most advanced project, Saraya Uranium Project in Senegal. The company has successfully completed eight of the planned ten infill TMS grids, each measuring 200m by 50m, following regional-scale surveys of 1000m by 100m.
With the latest development, the company announced new anomalies, expanding the list of auger drilling targets to a total of eleven, including several significant anomalies at the Diobi site. These exploration results highlight the promising potential of the Saraya permit.
TMS Sampling and Uranium Anomalies
Out of the planned 50,516 TMS samples, 18,727 infill samples have been successfully collected. Analysis using the handheld pXRF analyser revealed relative readings of uranium and other elements: -
- 11 auger drilling targets were identified.
- The equivalent uranium readings range from 8 to 45ppm, approximately 15 times higher than background levels. About 445 samples showed eU readings exceeding 8ppm.
- Most anomalies are concentrated within the NNE trending uranium corridor, which spans over 30 km and includes the company’s 16.1Mlb uranium resource.
- Three new grids—Bembou, Baraberi and Baraberi North—are located in the western region of the Saraya permit, positioned over the sheared contact between the Bembou Granite and the Saraya Granite. This geological setting is promising for shear-hosted mineralisation.
- Two new grids, Sekhoto North and Samecouta, are situated to the southeast, along the contact zone between the Dar Salam Granite and the Saraya Granite. In this area, Cogema and Areva previously discovered uranium-bearing quartz within sedimentary units in contact with these granites.
Update on auger drilling
At Diobi, auger drilling was partially completed before the onset of the wet season in June 2024.
