Resolution Minerals Ltd (ASX:RML, OTC:RLMLF) has advanced geological analysis at the Drake East Antimony-Gold Project in New South Wales with the completion of a high-resolution Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) survey. The project is recognized for its historical antimony production and recorded occurrences of gold mineralization.
Survey Identifies Extensive Historical Mine Workings
The LiDAR survey conducted at Drake East provided new insights into historical mining activity across the region. GeoCloud Analytics’ final report highlighted a substantial number of previously undocumented mine workings. These include pits, shafts, and adits that align with existing antimony and gold prospects recorded in state geological databases.
The findings indicate widespread mining activity across several distinct clusters. Many of these mine workings exhibit structural orientations consistent with vein-hosted antimony and gold mineralization, reinforcing geological interpretations of mineral-rich zones in the area.
Structural Controls and Mineralization Patterns
The survey pinpointed multiple clusters of historical workings, including locations such as Hedley’s-Gully, Hansen Hills-Hidden Treasure, Reliance Mine-Rileys Alluvials, Ottis Mine-Lanikai Alluvial, and Pine Gully–Mosquito Creek. The arrangement of these workings suggests a strong geological framework influencing mineral deposition.
Of particular interest is the Hedley’s-Gully area, which aligns with a known mineral system extending into the adjacent Lunatic Antimony Field. Past records from this neighboring area indicate high-grade occurrences of antimony and gold, suggesting continuity in mineralization trends across project boundaries.
Placer Gold Workings Indicate Localized Gold Source
Extensive placer gold workings identified in the survey area suggest a well-defined source of gold. The presence of widespread alluvial workings emphasizes the presence of near-surface mineralized material, adding to the geological significance of the region.
The correlation between placer workings and recorded hard-rock prospects supports the hypothesis of an interconnected system, where alluvial deposits may have been derived from nearby primary sources. The presence of these workings further strengthens the project’s standing within the ASX 200, Mining Stocks sector.
Next Steps in Exploration
Following the survey results, Resolution Minerals plans to commence fieldwork to validate interpreted geological features. Mapping and geochemical sampling efforts will focus on confirming structural controls and refining exploration priorities across the identified clusters.
This initiative is expected to enhance the understanding of mineralization at Drake East, contributing to the broader geological framework of the region. The upcoming field activities aim to establish a solid foundation for further assessments and exploration planning at the project.
