True North Copper identifies new copper-gold-cobalt zones at Cloncurry Copper Project
Exploration results drive plans for 3D modelling and follow-up programs
Activity set to continue with Wallace North and Salebury targets in upcoming 2025 campaign
True North Copper (ASX:TNC), part of the ASX 300, has reported the discovery of new copper-gold-cobalt mineralised zones at the Great Australia Mine (GAM), located within the broader Cloncurry Copper Project in northwest Queensland. The results stem from a reverse circulation drilling program, with further activity being mapped out to expand resource definition across multiple nearby prospects.
The company, which focuses on copper exploration across the Mt Isa Inlier, continues to progress its multi-target strategy at GAM through a combination of geophysical surveys, geological modelling, and additional drilling initiatives.
3D Modelling and IP Surveys Set to Drive Next Exploration Phase
Following the identification of mineralisation zones, True North is implementing a re-modelled three-dimensional induced polarisation (IP) survey. This is intended to enhance target accuracy and guide future exploration drilling across GAM and adjoining areas.
The company’s geological approach includes downhole optical scanning, structural interpretation, and integration of geochemical results to refine its exploration outlook. Resource definition drilling programs are also being planned for the Copperhead and Paddock South prospects.
At Coppermine Creek and the Orphan Shear area, follow-up drilling is anticipated to further test continuity and grade depth extension. Once current programs are completed, attention will shift to the Wallace North and Salebury targets under the 2025 campaign.
Copperhead and Coppermine Creek Return Strong Exploration Signals
The drilling campaign at Copperhead has confirmed two significant north-south mineralised structures that extend well beyond the known resource footprint of the GAM site. These structures were highlighted as having notable mineral continuity and favourable alteration features.
Coppermine Creek also delivered promising results, affirming mineral potential in the corridor between Paddock Lode, Taipan, and GAM. The findings are seen as additive to the geological understanding of the region, creating opportunities for further resource growth.
Strong hydrothermal signatures at Copperhead suggest the presence of a robust iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) system, which will be further tested through follow-up drilling to map extent and continuity.
Shallow Extensions at Paddock South and Strategic Expansion Plans
At the Paddock Lode South prospect, shallow intercepts to the southwest of the existing Paddock Lode pit are interpreted to have alignment with the broader Taipan resource. These developments provide grounds for refining mine planning strategies, with efforts now underway to consolidate findings into a broader modelling framework.
Managing Director Bevan Jones commented that the newly confirmed mineral systems reinforce the scale and complexity of GAM and adjacent prospects. He noted that the company remains focused on exploration-driven growth, with upcoming results from the Mt Oxide Project expected to further augment True North’s copper inventory.
