QMines Ltd reports favourable bulk flotation test outcomes from Queensland assets
Develin Creek integration set to enhance throughput at Mt Chalmers project
New simplified flowsheet expected to streamline operations and reduce costs
QMines Ltd (ASX:QML), listed on the ASX 300, has reported encouraging metallurgical test results from its Mt Chalmers project in central Queensland. The outcomes are expected to support the company’s plans to scale up production while simplifying its operations across the region.
The flotation test work applied to ores sourced from both Mt Chalmers and Develin Creek has strengthened confidence in a centralised processing hub, aligning with QMines’ broader strategy of increasing its throughput capacity and operational footprint.
Positive Flotation Results Drive Plans to Scale Output
Conducted in recent months, the bulk flotation test work returned improved recovery rates for key base and precious metals. The process, carried out on a blend of Mt Chalmers and Develin Creek ores, supported the feasibility of expanding throughput from a previous scale to a higher operational capacity.
The results have prompted the company to progress with plans to double the scale of its Mt Chalmers operations, with a simplified flowsheet now adopted to streamline processes and enhance efficiencies.
Simplified Flowsheet Aims to Lower Costs and Accelerate Construction
The adoption of a bulk flotation flowsheet over more complex sequential approaches marks a shift in processing strategy for QMines. This revised method is designed to reduce capital and operating expenditure by lowering reagent use, energy demand and infrastructure complexity.
The leaner approach is also anticipated to accelerate the mill construction schedule, potentially improving early-stage cash flows and helping fast-track broader development milestones.
Develin Creek Integration Enhances Project Scope
A significant aspect of QMines’ advancement strategy involves the integration of its Develin Creek project into the overall Mt Chalmers mine plan. The addition of multiple deposits from Develin Creek — including Sulphide City, Scorpion and Window — strengthens the operation’s resource base and enhances scalability.
By consolidating resources and infrastructure across these projects, the company aims to improve processing rates, lengthen mine life and establish synergies between the two regional hubs.
Pre-Feasibility Work and Exploration Underway
Following the metallurgical test outcomes, QMines is working on an updated pre-feasibility study to reflect the increased processing scale. Results from the study are expected in the first half of the upcoming calendar year.
Meanwhile, active drilling campaigns and resource upgrade programs continue across Mt Chalmers and Develin Creek, with progress focused on unlocking further value and shaping the next phase of development.
Strategic Growth in Focus Amid Regional Development Push
QMines’ ongoing development efforts reflect a long-term strategy to evolve into a mid-tier producer of copper and gold. The integration of high-grade deposits, improved metallurgy and simplified processing are key components in enhancing the company’s project economics and regional footprint.
