Highlights
- Catalina Resources is set to launch drilling in 2H 2025 across the Central Yilgarn Project.
- Seven walk-up drill targets with confirmed mineralisation remain largely untested.
- The T6 Gold Camp includes promising targets such as Chicken Little, Megatron, and Snowflake, with encouraging historical drilling results.
- At the Laverton Project, aircore drilling identified a significant zone of gold mineralisation.
- Significant REE mineralisation was discovered at Laverton, with a 4m zone grading over 1% TREO.
- RC drilling is also scheduled at Laverton to follow up on both gold and REE targets.
Catalina Resources Ltd (ASX:CTN) is set to ramp up exploration activities across the Yilgarn Craton region in Western Australia, with an initial reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign scheduled for the second half of 2025 (2H 2025).
In January 2025, the company acquired the Yerilgee and Evanston greenstone belts, an underexplored area covering over 650 km² within the world-renowned Yilgarn Craton. These belts offer potential for multiple mineralisation styles.
The Central Yilgarn Project, comprising the Yerilgee and Evanston belts, covers approximately 65 km of strike. Technical reviews of the historical database have identified numerous drill targets. Among them, seven walk-up drill targets show proven mineralisation but remain largely untested. Additionally, soil sampling has revealed several high-tenor gold-in-soil anomalies that warrant further investigation.
Yerilgee Project Overview
The Yerilgee Project hosts three primary camp-scale gold targets — T6, T8, and T11.
The T6 Gold Camp includes the Chicken Little, Megatron, and Snowflake prospects. At Chicken Little, upcoming drilling will target the down-dip and potential plunge extensions of the existing mineralised zones.
The Megatron and Snowflake targets within the T6 prospect clearly defined by anomalous gold in soil geochemistry and results from historical drilling have been encouraging.
Historical RC drilling at the T8 Gold Camp returned broad intercepts such as 17m @ 0.7 g/t Au, with evidence of supergene gold blankets.
Evanston Project Overview
The Evanston Greenstone Belt hosts the T1 and T2 camp-scale gold targets. These targets have demonstrated significant mineralisation and includes high-grade drill intercepts that remain untested by follow-up drilling.
At the Viper prospect within the T1 Gold Camp, only three RC holes have been drilled, and intercepts remain open and represent walk up drill targets.
The T2 Gold Camp, especially at the Leghorn and Erk prospects, shows promising indications for gold mineralisation.
Laverton Project Update
Catalina reported encouraging results from follow-up aircore drilling at the Laverton Project, with hole LVAC049 returning 28m at 1.09 g/t gold from 57m, including 1m at 9.69 g/t gold. This result is considered highly significant as it aligns with previously observed veining and alteration in bottom-of-hole samples.
Additionally, a notable rare earth element (REE) intersection was recorded in hole LVAC037, with a 4m zone containing over 10,000ppm TREO (1%).
Catalina plans to conduct RC drilling to test the depth extensions of the gold intercept and the REE mineralisation. Further RC drilling and soil sampling are also planned across key targets within the Central Yilgarn Project.
