Nexus completes expanded RC drilling at Payns within Wallbrook Gold Project
Follow-up based on high-grade gold intersections from earlier aircore campaign
Assay results expected to guide next exploration phase by late July
Gold sector company Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM), listed on the ASX 300, has completed its initial reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at the Payns Prospect, part of the Wallbrook Gold Project in Western Australia. The program, originally designed with a set drill target, was expanded significantly after early geological observations highlighted areas of increased interest.
The Payns Prospect is positioned northeast of Kalgoorlie, a region well-known for its gold endowment. Nexus has maintained a strategic focus on near-surface mineralisation and regional prospectivity, especially within proximity to well-established operations held by Northern Star Resources.
Program Design Adjusted Following Encouraging Geological Indicators
The RC program began with a core structure but was expanded by a quarter in scale following promising geological conditions. Ultimately, drill operations extended across a wide anomalous zone measuring nearly a square kilometre. The initiative followed up on prior aircore drilling campaigns, which delivered several notable high-grade intersections.
Initial RC drilling efforts were intended to test continuity, validate structural controls, and further map gold-bearing lithologies. With drilling now finalised, composite samples have been submitted for gold assay, with results expected to be received by the end of the next month.
Strategic Drilling Targets Regional Gold Trends
The Payns campaign focused on exploration within a structurally complex and gold-prospective corridor near the Crusader-Templar resource, which is part of the larger Wallbrook land package. Drilling employed a systematic grid of fence lines and infill holes to capture both vertical and lateral mineralisation patterns.
Drill fences were strategically oriented to assess underlying geology to a moderate depth, with additional scissor holes designed to examine structural features from multiple angles. The extension of the drilling program included over a dozen extra holes to probe zones with compelling lithological features.
Upcoming Results to Inform Ongoing Exploration Efforts
All four metre composite samples collected during drilling have been submitted for analysis, and selected zones will undergo further geochemical testing to assist in defining future drill targets. One metre splits from mineralised intervals will also be evaluated to support resource delineation efforts.
This structured exploration phase supports Nexus’s broader objective of growing its resource base within a proven mineral district. The company’s activity at Payns is being executed in parallel with additional projects across New South Wales and Victoria, where gold, copper, and critical minerals are key exploration themes.
