Making remarkable progress in its ongoing drilling programme, Australian gold explorer, Kingwest Resources Limited (ASX:KWR) has finalised 14 RC (Reverse Circulation) pre-collars at its flagship Menzies Gold Project (MGP).
The RC pre-collars have been completed under Kingwest’s major ~8,300 metres drilling programme commenced in early March 2020, targeting high-quality extensions to the existing known mineralisation within the First Hit, Lady Shenton and Yunndaga Systems. The drilling programme was designed to undertake RC drilling for relatively shallow infill and utilise RC pre-collars for deeper diamond drill holes.
Drilling Progresses Well at Menzies Gold Project
The Company notified that it has completed 14 RC pre-collars and 10 RC drill-holes, that will not have diamond core tails, for 3,402 metres at three target areas. The assay results of these RC holes are pending and are expected to be out within two weeks.
To conduct RC drilling at Menzies project, the Company engaged Challenge Drilling (Kalgoorlie) as the drilling contractor in February 2020.
The continuing drilling program is testing recently delineated Exploration Targets at Menzies, which are comprised of the forecasted continuation of high-quality gold mineralisation beneath historical underground workings at the project’s major gold deposits - Yunndaga, Lady Shenton and First Hit systems. Each of these systems consists of multiple shear zones hosting high-quality gold deposits.
The following Exploration Targets are being tested for the main mineralised systems:
- Princess May Extension Exploration Target (Yunndaga System): 194,000t - 388,800 tonnes at a grade of 10g/t Au - 16g/t Au
- Lady Shenton Extension Exploration Target (Lady Shenton System): 121,500t - 182,250t at a grade of 16g/t Au - 32g/t Au
- First Hit Extension Exploration Target (First Hit System): 64,800t to 97,200t at a grade of 16g/t Au to 32g/t Au

Diamond Drilling to Commence Soon
The Company’s progressing drilling programme comprised of RC as well as Diamond core (DD) drilling, is now likely to commence tomorrow (28th March 2020). The Company will begin with ~4,600 metres diamond drilling after the arrival of diamond drill rig, to extend finalised RC pre-collars and test high-grade gold targets which shall take about seven to eight weeks to complete.
Undoubtedly, Kingwest is progressing in a timely manner towards the completion of its 2020 drilling programme, beginning with its diamond drilling in late March 2020 as initially planned. The Company seems well-positioned to define extensions to its historic high-grade underground mineralisation and confirm new mineral resources at project’s main mineralised zones.
As on 27th March 2020, KWR ended the day at $0.010.
