US Markets: Broader indices in the United States traded in green - particularly, the S&P 500 index traded 20.53 points or 0.53 per cent higher at 3,907.36, Dow Jones Industrial Average Index expanded by 199.37 points or 0.64 per cent higher at 31,347.61, and the technology benchmark index Nasdaq Composite traded higher at 13,946.19, up by 89.90 points or 0.65 per cent against the previous day close (at the time of writing, before the US market close at 10:30 AM ET).
US Market News: The major indices of Wall Street traded in the green territory riding on the stimulus hopes. Among the gaining stocks, Palantir Technologies shares grew by 9.84% after it announced a partnership with IBM to work on IBM’s artificial intelligence offerings. Shares of Energizer Holdings went up by 7.66% after it reported quarterly earnings more than the expectations. Global Payments shares jumped by 2.73% after it had announced a partnership with Google to develop cloud-based solutions. Shares of Tesla jumped by 2.23% after it had bought USD 1.5 billion of bitcoin and would accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment. Among the declining stocks, shares of Apple plunged by 0.36% after Hyundai said they are not in discussion anymore regarding autonomous electric cars.

European News: The London and European markets traded in the green territory showing investor optimism over the US stimulus package. Among the gaining stocks, Flutter Entertainment shares went up by 1.67% after upgrading to “Overweight” by Morgan Stanley. Drax Group shares jumped by 0.37% after it had announced a deal to buy Pinnacle Renewable Energy. Electrocomponents shares jumped by 0.32% after it had reported improved revenue in its trading update. Shares of Evraz had increased the most on FTSE 100. Among the decliners, shares of Ocado Group went down by 0.44% after the news that UK Government is considering taxing companies that has benefitted out of pandemic. Experian shares dropped by 0.38% after the news of carrying out forensic investigation regarding data breaching in Brazil.
