Novak Djokovic arrived in Australia on Wednesday after 14 hours flight from Dubai ahead of the Australian Open starting on 17 January. However, authorities discovered a mistake on his visa application and have yet to allow him permission to enter the nation, even though the state administration has confirmed that they do not support his application.
Djokovic is isolated at the Australian airport as the airport officials work on a COVID-19 vaccine exemption related issue. He was still waiting for clearance early Thursday morning when it was discovered that the visa, he had sought did not include medical exemptions.
Djokovic is a professional tennis player from Serbia and has recently gained recognition as world No. 1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals. He has won the Grand Slam 20 times.
The local government of Victoria commented that it would not support the Visa application of the tennis player and left the visa approval in the hands of prime minister Scott Morrison and the Federal government.
The Morrison government encountered the backlash on the decision to grant vaccine exemption to Djokovic. Following the enormous backlash, Morrison commented that Djokovic would need to satisfy the Australian authorities that handle the visas and international borders.
