Pre-paid financial cards issuer, EML Payments Limited (ASX:EML), on Monday, announced that it has appointed Emma Shand as its managing director and CEO, taking up the role immediately. The appointment came after Tom Cregan resigned. Reportedly, the company did not share the reason behind his resignation.
Pulled down by this ASX announcement, the share price of EML plunged by more than 24% on the ASX today. The shares closed today’s trading session at AU$0.965 per share. EML’s benchmark index, ASX200 Information Technology (INDEXASX:XIJ), closed 2.51% lower today.
In last six months, EML share price has nosedive by over 70%. The share price dropped by 70.85% on year-to-date basis, and the yearly fall is around 74%.

Shand carries 25 years of global experience in diversified financial services, capital markets and technology across 30 different countries. She has held senior management positions with Nasdaq, the US-based market leader.
EML stated that Shand has deep executive experience in different technology and operating environments and different cultural settings. Shand dealt with disruptive companies, government and regulated markets across a diverse range of sectors.
Shand has been serving EML since September 2021 as one of the board members.
According to the ASX-announcement, Shand will be dedicated to the company’s business in Europe.
EML has not disclosed the employment terms of Shand yet but said it would disclose the same in due course.
