Highlights
- Continuity of gold mineralisation confirmed at Arrakis Prospect
- 12,500-metre drill program to begin at Caladan in May
- Geological setting resembles prolific gold districts like Kalgoorlie
Yandal Resources (ASX:YRL) is advancing exploration at its Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project in Western Australia with a major aircore drilling campaign scheduled to commence in May. The company has confirmed the continuity of gold mineralisation down-dip at the Arrakis Prospect, reinforcing confidence in the broader Caladan Fold structure—a promising, underexplored target zone within the Yandal Greenstone Belt.
The upcoming 12,500-metre aircore program will mark the first systematic drilling effort across the expansive 8-kilometre by 3-kilometre Caladan structure. This initiative follows a successful reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at Arrakis, which yielded several encouraging gold intercepts. Notable results include:
- 11 metres at 0.5 g/t gold from 168 metres, including 3 metres at 1.2 g/t (hole 25AKSL003)
- 5 metres at 1.3 g/t gold from 243 metres, including 2 metres at 2.7 g/t (hole 25IWBRC0037)
These intersections suggest the presence of multiple mineralised structures, with shallow gold-bearing intervals in the upper regolith still open at depth. The mineralisation is hosted within a sheared mafic sequence exhibiting sub-vertical geometry, silica-sericite alteration, and sulphide dissemination—favourable geological characteristics for continued exploration success.
Yandal Resources (YRL) is targeting the CAL-01 regolith anomaly, where earlier drilling ended with 11 metres at 1.7 g/t gold in hole 24IWBAC063. The geological setting—characterised by a folded mafic sequence truncated by the Idaho Shear Zone—shares traits with renowned gold regions such as Kalgoorlie, underscoring its exploration appeal.
Preparations for the aircore program are underway, following the completion of necessary heritage surveys. The campaign will test 6.4 kilometres of strike along the Caladan Fold, across 10 drill lines. Results are expected in the September quarter.
Located just 60 kilometres south of the Jundee mining complex and 18 kilometres north of the Siona discovery, Ironstone Well-Barwidgee is emerging as a key focus for Yandal Resources. With a robust cash position and additional diamond drilling results from Siona due in mid-May, the company is gearing up for an active June quarter.
This phase of exploration not only underscores the scale of the Caladan target but also positions Yandal Resources (YRL) for potential new discoveries in one of Western Australia's most prospective gold terrains.
