- Solis Minerals hits visible copper-gold mineralisation in Peru.
- First drilling phase at Chancho al Palo shows promising geology.
- Assay results expected mid-2025 to confirm mineral potential.
Solis Minerals (ASX:SLM) has reported a significant development in its ongoing exploration efforts in the Southern Coastal Belt of Peru, with its maiden drillhole at the Chancho al Palo project intersecting visible iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) mineralisation. This early success marks a key milestone in the company’s diamond drilling campaign, sparking optimism about the project’s potential in one of the world’s leading copper-producing regions.
The company has completed a 713-metre diamond drillhole, uncovering visible chalcopyrite mineralisation at 184 metres and porphyry-style mineralisation at 451 metres. Most notably, mineralised breccias have intensified from a depth of 586 metres, with prominent visible gold emerging at 620 metres. These visual indicators are considered geologically promising as the company advances deeper into the IOCG system.
Solis Minerals, with a current market capitalisation of approximately $13.54 million, is conducting this drill program at its 100%-owned Peruvian asset. The next drill target lies 200 metres west of the first, where the company will aim to identify similar geological patterns and mineral signatures.
In total, the campaign is expected to span four to five drillholes, covering 2,500 metres. All assay results are projected to return by July or August 2025, handled by international testing firm ALS Global.
The company has expressed confidence in these early geological findings, which validate prior surface exploration efforts. These surface indicators, alongside geochemical pathfinders, appear aligned with the strategy of uncovering copper-gold systems with large-scale mining potential.
While Solis Minerals does not currently sit within the ASX200, its operations and discoveries in mining-intensive South America place it in a compelling position among resource-focused companies with growth potential. Exploration success like this could bolster its future prospects on the index.
Alongside Chancho al Palo, Solis Minerals maintains other significant holdings in Peru’s Coastal Belt, including the Ilo Este and Ilo Norte tenements. The company continues to broaden its copper exploration footprint in the region, underscoring a commitment to unlocking long-term value through strategic drilling and regional geological understanding.
As the company awaits its assay results, all eyes remain on what further insights the data might reveal regarding the scale and quality of copper-gold mineralisation at this promising South American site.
