Highlights

  • Upcoming Drilling Program: Lightning Minerals plans to commence a 2,000-meter diamond drilling program at the Esperança Project in Q1 2025.
  • Confirmed Spodumene Presence: Raman spectroscopic analysis has validated the presence of spodumene, a key lithium-bearing mineral, at Esperança.
  • Positive Soil Sampling Results: Soil assays reveal significant lithium levels at Caraíbas (429 ppm) and Canabrava (320 ppm) in Brazil’s Minas Gerais region.

Lightning Minerals Ltd (ASX:L1M) is gearing up for its first drilling campaign of 2025 at the Esperança Project, situated in Brazil’s renowned Lithium Valley. This announcement comes as the company continues to make strides in exploring one of the world’s most promising regions for lithium extraction.

The planned program will encompass 2,000 meters of diamond drilling, set to kick off in the first quarter of 2025. Preparations are well underway, with drilling contractors and logistics already secured to ensure a seamless start to this inaugural drilling phase.

Ahead of the drilling, the company conducted Raman spectroscopic analysis at the Esperança site, confirming the presence of spodumene—a vital lithium-bearing mineral. This discovery substantiates earlier exploration findings, including the identification of a lithium-bearing pegmatite, which was first reported in November 2024. The November discovery followed an extensive phase of geological mapping, ground reconnaissance, and soil sampling, further cementing Esperança’s potential as a key lithium prospect.

Complementing the progress at Esperança, Lightning Minerals has achieved encouraging soil sampling results across its Brazilian projects. In particular, the Caraíbas and Esperança projects yielded lithium concentrations of up to 429 parts per million (ppm) and 320 ppm, respectively. Both projects are strategically located in the Minas Gerais region, a hub for lithium exploration within the broader Lithium Valley.

The company’s recent progress has garnered attention from investors, with Lightning Minerals’ shares experiencing a 8.33% surge during morning trading on January 17, 2025, reaching AU$0.071 per share.
