  • Krakatoa to initiate maiden drill program at Zopkhito project
  • A$1.3M raised through strategic placement
  • Targeting high-grade antimony and gold zones in Georgia

Krakatoa Resources (ASX:KTA) is ramping up momentum at its Zopkhito Antimony-Gold Project in Georgia, with plans to launch a maiden diamond drilling campaign following a successful A$1.3 million capital raise. This strategic initiative underscores the company’s commitment to unlocking value from one of the more intriguing exploration plays outside the ASX200 stocks landscape.

Capital Raise Fuels Aggressive Drilling Strategy

The company has secured firm commitments for A$1.3 million via a placement involving 124 million new shares at 1.05 cents each. Accompanying these are unquoted options—one for every two shares—exercisable at 2 cents and expiring by September 2026. Board members are also contributing to the placement, with final shareholder approvals expected in July.

Funds will be channelled into a robust 7,000–10,000-metre diamond drilling program, expected to kick off in July. The campaign is designed to validate historical resource estimates and transition them into JORC-compliant classifications. In addition to diamond drilling, targeted adit drilling will hone in on high-grade antimony and gold zones, while geophysical surveys will help map potential extensions.

Strategic Significance of the Zopkhito Project

Located in the mineral-rich Racha region of northern Georgia, the 1,779-hectare Zopkhito Project offers both geological promise and logistical convenience. Situated just 170 kilometres from Kutaisi with established road and rail links to Black Sea ports, the site is primed for scalable development.

The historical resource estimate, based on the Soviet GKZ classification, includes 225,000 tonnes at 11.6% antimony and 7.1 million tonnes at 3.7 grams per tonne of gold. Krakatoa aims to convert this substantial foreign estimate into an internationally recognised standard through its upcoming exploration activities.

Georgia’s mining-friendly regulatory environment and duty-free trade access to a global market of 2.8 billion consumers further enhance the project’s strategic value.

Forward Momentum and Broader Market Perspective

With resource estimates that point to significant antimony and gold potential, Krakatoa is positioning itself to tap into growing global demand for critical minerals. The company's recent funding success not only supports its technical goals but also reflects market confidence in its growth trajectory.

For investors tracking developments across the sector, Krakatoa’s progress adds a compelling narrative outside the conventional boundaries of ASX200 stocks, reinforcing the diversity and dynamism of Australia’s junior exploration landscape.
