Hot Chili (ASX:HCH) has made significant progress in advancing its La Verde copper-gold discovery with the release of promising reverse circulation (RC) drilling results. These findings continue to demonstrate the growing potential of the project, located just 30 kilometers south of the company’s Costa Fuego copper-gold project and its planned central processing hub. The latest assays from 12 of the 19 RC holes drilled at La Verde so far have added to the strong results reported earlier in December 2024, confirming the significant scale of the discovery.
According to Managing Director Christian Easterday, La Verde is shaping up to be Hot Chili’s next major copper-gold discovery, with the potential to substantially enhance the Costa Fuego project. The positive market conditions, including declining primary copper supply and rising copper and gold prices, further fuel optimism for the project's future. With a pre-feasibility study nearing completion, momentum is building for Hot Chili’s expansion plans.
The latest drilling results have exceeded initial expectations, unveiling a much larger porphyry system at La Verde than originally anticipated. Easterday noted that this discovery has the hallmarks of becoming the company’s third bulk-tonnage copper-gold deposit. The discovery footprint currently measures 550 meters by 400 meters and remains open in all directions, suggesting significant growth potential.
Additionally, the company believes there may be deeper untapped potential at La Verde. To test this, Hot Chili plans to follow up the RC drilling success with diamond drilling to explore deeper, higher-grade zones. The focus will be on testing for vertical depth extent beyond 1 kilometer, a characteristic of other recent major porphyry discoveries in the region. With geological logging already confirming the presence of porphyry host rock, including A- and B-type veining, the next phase of drilling is expected to provide further insights into the project’s potential.
The excitement surrounding La Verde is further amplified by Hot Chili's plans to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) in its exploration efforts. Leveraging 16 years of expertise in Chile, the company is preparing to deploy AI-powered exploration tools to accelerate the development of its nearby exploration pipeline. As the La Verde project continues to show promise, Hot Chili is positioning itself for continued growth in the copper and gold sectors.
