Highlights:

  • Forrestania Resources (ASX:FRS) has confirmed gold mineralisation at Ada Ann, with positive drilling results showing the orebody is open in all directions, extending at depth and along strike.
  • The maiden drilling program, comprising 21 RC holes and 1,488 metres of drilling, produced consistent, promising results, including multiple high-grade gold intersections.
  • Phase 2 drilling is set to expand mineralisation further, with plans to target areas south and north of the current discovery, including historic shallow intersections that were previously unexplored.

Forrestania Resources Ltd (ASX:FRS) has made significant progress at its Ada Ann prospect within the Bonnie Vale Project, situated in Western Australia's renowned Eastern Goldfields region. The company's maiden reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign has delivered promising results, confirming gold mineralisation that remains open in all directions. This discovery sets the stage for further exploration upside, with the mineralisation extending at depth to the east and along strike to the south.

The drilling results from Ada Ann have outlined a defined strike length of approximately 225 metres, with mineralised zones being intercepted where the company had previously projected. The consistency of the mineralisation across various depths has provided a clearer understanding of the deposit's geology and its potential for further expansion. Forrestania Resources’ chair, John Hannaford, highlighted that this initial RC program aimed at confirming the presence of mineralisation and understanding the orebody's characteristics. With positive results and consistent widths of mineralisation, the company is now well-positioned for follow-up drilling.

The maiden RC program included 21 holes, amounting to a total of 1,488 metres of drilling. The campaign successfully tested the historical gold results at Ada Ann, confirming that the mineralisation is open at depth and along strike. Encouraging results from the program included composite assays such as 8 metres at 1.5 g/t gold from 36 metres, 4 metres at 3.4 g/t from 44 metres, and 4 metres at 2.2 g/t from 44 metres, among others. These results were also close to previously released historic drilling results, such as 4 metres at 12.8 g/t gold from 25 metres and 16 metres at 2.6 g/t from 24 metres.

These findings build on the regional exploration success that Forrestania Resources has achieved in the area. Previous geochemical work and historical drilling in surrounding areas, including the Christmas Gift and Bonnie Vale North prospects, have further supported the potential of Ada Ann. The combination of consistent assay results and proximity to high-grade gold intersections positions Ada Ann as a key focus area for the company's exploration efforts.

Looking ahead, Forrestania Resources has already submitted the 1-metre split samples for fire assay, with results expected in 6-8 weeks. These results will provide further confirmation of the mineralisation and help refine the geological and mineralised models for the prospect. The company is also planning Phase 2 of its drilling campaign, which will focus on expanding the mineralisation further to the north and at depth.

Phase 2 drilling will also target a historic, shallow intersection from hole BR14, located about 45 metres south of the current drilling area. This hole previously yielded composite intercepts such as 6 metres at 0.23 g/t gold from 6 metres and 6 metres at 0.14 g/t from 12 metres. Although these results were never followed up, the downhole location of the mineralisation in BR14 aligns with the current geological model, making it an area of interest for further exploration. The targeting of this historic intersection is expected to provide valuable insights into the broader extent of the gold mineralisation in the area.

In conclusion, Forrestania Resources' Ada Ann prospect has demonstrated significant potential with the confirmation of open gold mineralisation in all directions. The promising results from the maiden drilling program have established a solid foundation for the company to expand its exploration efforts. With Phase 2 drilling on the horizon, Forrestania Resources is set to continue advancing its understanding of the Ada Ann deposit and further unlock the value of the Bonnie Vale Project. As exploration continues, the company is well-positioned to make further discoveries in the highly prospective Eastern Goldfields region.
