Highlights
- ICE Copper-Gold Project shows significant scope for mineral discoveries.
- Limited exploration conducted, with under 1% of the property drill tested.
- New geophysical and geochemical targets identified, guiding future exploration.
Bastion Minerals (ASX:BMO) has unveiled plans to accelerate exploration activities at its ICE Copper-Gold Project in western Canada, targeting the discovery of new mineralized deposits. This initiative comes after identifying 11 exploration targets, highlighting the potential for expanding known resources.
The ICE project has seen limited exploration outside the established deposit area, with less than 1% of the property undergoing drilling. Bastion believes this leaves a substantial scope for uncovering additional zones of volcanic-hosted massive sulfide (VHMS) mineralization. The company's approach includes leveraging historical data and advanced techniques to maximize the potential of this underexplored region.
Bastion aims to re-assay historical core samples and integrate this data into an updated mineral resource estimate expected in early 2025. In addition, the company plans to reprocess historical electromagnetic and magnetic data to refine drill targets further. These steps align with a broader strategy to prepare for a comprehensive drilling program, for which a class-three drill permit application will be submitted. The campaign is scheduled for the northern summer of 2025.
The fieldwork program slated for April-May 2025 will include activities such as detailed geological mapping, induced polarization (IP), electromagnetic (EM) surveys, and soil geochemistry. These efforts aim to generate actionable insights that will support precise drilling operations. Once additional geophysics and geochemistry are completed, Bastion plans to initiate drilling, advancing the exploration of its ICE project significantly.
Executive Chairman Ross Landles emphasized the project's untapped potential, noting the importance of the 11 identified exploration targets. He stated, “We believe the untested geophysical and geochemical anomalies provide excellent drill targets, and we are confident in the future of the project as we continue our exploration efforts throughout 2025.”
Bastion Minerals is a diversified explorer with a strong portfolio of assets in Canada, Sweden, and Western Australia. These assets are considered highly prospective for copper, rare earths, and battery metals. With a strategic focus on innovation and sustainability, the company is poised to contribute significantly to the growing demand for critical minerals.
As exploration efforts at the ICE Copper-Gold Project progress, Bastion Minerals positions itself at the forefront of uncovering valuable resources that could play a vital role in the global minerals market.
