  • New collaboration to enhance Canada’s role in the global clean energy transition.

Lithium Universe (ASX:LU7) has forged an exciting new partnership with La Corporation de l’École Polytechnique de Montréal (Polytechnique Montréal), marking a major step forward in the development of lithium processing technologies and strengthening the supply chain for critical materials in Canada’s battery sector. This strategic collaboration is poised to benefit both the educational and technological landscape by advancing innovative practices in the growing lithium industry.

Through this alliance, numerous educational opportunities will be offered to local students. These include internships, fellowships, co-op programs, and joint academic projects that aim to enhance the expertise of the next generation of professionals in the field. With a focus on fostering diversity, encouraging entrepreneurship, and nurturing start-ups, the partnership also aims to support the local talent pool and give students hands-on experience in a dynamic and evolving industry.

Lithium Universe’s chair, Iggy Tan, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the mutual goal of driving sustainable practices within the industry. "This partnership represents a pivotal moment for both of our organizations as we work together to ignite innovation and create a thriving lithium battery industry in Canada," Tan said. He highlighted that the alliance will contribute to educational excellence while encouraging the commercialization of new technologies, further establishing Canada as a global leader in lithium production and processing.

Polytechnique Montréal, renowned for its research and innovation in applied sciences, is an ideal partner in this venture. The institution is a hub for multidisciplinary research, particularly in fields relating to sustainability and energy transition. Its strong commitment to addressing global environmental challenges aligns closely with the objectives of Lithium Universe to support clean energy solutions.

The initial five-year collaboration will focus on developing and strengthening Canada’s lithium processing capabilities, aiming to improve technologies for use in battery manufacturing. In addition to this, the two entities will collaborate on co-developed research projects, further advancing industry innovation and supporting the growth of the lithium sector.

Earlier this week, Lithium Universe secured a deal with Lafarge Canada to supply aluminosilicate, a secondary product from its Bécancour lithium refinery, for use in the cement industry. This move aims to enhance North America's battery materials supply chain and introduce sustainable practices into the construction sector.

This collaboration between Lithium Universe (LU7) and Polytechnique Montréal stands as a testament to both parties' dedication to innovation, sustainability, and the advancement of clean energy solutions for the future.
