Sonic Healthcare Ltd (ASX:SHL) is set to solidify its European presence with the acquisition of Laboratory Group Dr. Kramer & Colleagues (LADR), a leading medical laboratory network in Germany. The deal, valued at €423 million on a cash and debt-free basis, marks a significant step in Sonic’s international expansion strategy.
The acquisition involves issuing Sonic ordinary shares worth up to €222 million, with the remaining balance to be paid in cash.

LADR, founded in 1945 and owned by the Kramer family for three generations, operates an extensive network of standalone and hospital-based laboratories across Germany and Poland. The group employs over 2,800 full-time staff, with its central laboratory located in Geesthacht, near Hamburg.
