  • Orthocell completes first US-based Remplir™ nerve repair surgery
  • Expanding US distributor network aids commercial rollout
  • Positioned for strong sales momentum through FY26

Orthocell Ltd (ASX:OCC) has reached a significant milestone in its international expansion with the successful completion of the first US surgical procedure using its Remplir™ nerve repair product. This procedure follows the recent 510(k) clearance granted by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in April 2025.

This landmark case represents the initial in-market application of Remplir™ in the United States, a nation with an estimated US$1.6 billion nerve repair market. The surgery was performed in Ohio to address a foot nerve injury, with Orthocell’s Medical Education team in attendance. The device used was manufactured in Perth, Western Australia, further showcasing the company’s integrated capabilities from production to clinical deployment.

Laying Groundwork for Commercial Traction

The Ohio procedure signifies a pivotal entry point for Orthocell in the US healthcare sector, laying the groundwork for wider clinical adoption. The company’s growing distributor network—now covering 25 states through 14 specialized partners—has played a key role in facilitating this milestone. These partners bring robust relationships with surgeons and hospitals, ensuring targeted market penetration and deeper engagement.

With approximately A$30 million in cash reserves and zero debt, (ASX:OCC) appears well-capitalized to support its commercial ambitions, especially as the company eyes sustained sales growth into the first half of FY26.

Innovative Product with Clinical Edge

Remplir™ is a collagen-based nerve wrap designed to enhance peripheral nerve regeneration. Clinically validated, it offers improvements over conventional suture techniques by promoting faster healing, improved nerve restoration, and superior patient outcomes. Its use in real-world surgical settings like Ohio is expected to accelerate surgeon familiarity and confidence in the product.

Orthocell’s broader strategy targets a global peripheral nerve repair market worth over US$3.5 billion, driven by an estimated 2 million procedures annually. The successful US launch of Remplir™ adds momentum to these global ambitions.

As further clinical use cases unfold, Remplir™ is poised to become a noteworthy contributor to Orthocell’s growth trajectory through calendar year 2025 and beyond.
