  • Acadia Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ACAD) reports record quarterly and full-year sales in the US.
  • Forecasted royalties for Neuren Pharmaceuticals set to jump 110% in 2024.

Neuren Pharmaceuticals (ASX:NEU) has posted a remarkable sales performance for its Rett syndrome treatment, DAYBUE™, marking a significant milestone in its commercial journey. The company reported a 97% increase in full-year net sales, demonstrating strong market demand and a growing patient base.

Its US development partner, Acadia Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ACAD), recorded full-year sales of $US348.4 million, reaching the upper range of its sales forecast. The fourth quarter alone brought in $US96.7 million, making it the strongest quarter since the product’s launch in April 2023.

With 70% of the 5,500 to 5,800 diagnosed Rett syndrome patients in the US yet to try DAYBUE™, Neuren Pharmaceuticals sees substantial potential for continued expansion. As a result, the company projects royalties of $56.2 million for 2024, reflecting a 110% increase from the previous year.

The performance of DAYBUE™ highlights the growing recognition and adoption of the therapy within the Rett syndrome community. The treatment, which has been the first FDA-approved option for this rare neurological disorder, has seen a steady increase in prescriptions as awareness among healthcare professionals and caregivers expands.

Industry analysts have noted that DAYBUE™'s strong momentum in the US market is a testament to the significant unmet need in Rett syndrome treatment. With further outreach and education, more patients are expected to benefit from this therapy in the coming years.

The company’s revenue outlook for 2024 suggests further scaling opportunities, potentially reinforcing Neuren Pharmaceuticals' position in the biopharmaceutical market. With continued efforts in commercial expansion and research, the company remains focused on bringing innovative treatments to more patients worldwide.

The record-breaking sales figures underscore the impact of DAYBUE™ in addressing a critical medical need, positioning Neuren Pharmaceuticals for further growth in the rare disease treatment space.
